What is LEGACY?
Legacy is a Leadership Education homeschool community for families seeking Leadership Education. We are based on principles found in A Thomas Jefferson Education: Teaching a Generation of Leaders for the Twenty-first Century by Oliver DeMille.
Legacy Commonwealth Academy supports mentored self-education to empower success in family, education, prosperity, and societal impact.
The purpose of Legacy is to inspire all members to live their individual missions, provide educational and social opportunities, and to create friendships and community among students, mentors, and families seeking Leadership Education.
Located in North Austin. Members from Cedar Park, Leander, Liberty Hill, Georgetown, Round Rock, and Pflugerville.
What is Leadership Education?
Education where parents, teachers, and other mentors help each individual student discover and refine his/her unique, innate genius and get an education to prepare for life success.
Leadership Education is an educational philosophy based on classics, mentors, and principle-based learning.
When you choose a Leadership Education for your family, there are many new principles that it incorporates, including:
A Core Book – A book(s) that contain your values.
Leadership – Both in the Home and Community
Virtue – Both private and public
Education in phases – Including your own
Actively Mentoring your children through their education.
Family involvement – parents taking responsibility with their children to guide, direct, and own the education of the family members.
These principles are part of a culture that is not found in every neighborhood. When people sense their value, they immediately start trying to find others to join with them in their culture, for themselves and especially for their adolescent youth. This is why Legacy exists.
